The future of Windows Embedded operating systems
Thanks WPDANG post
Microsoft has recently released the next version of Windows Embedded Roadmap, is now available for download to the preview version of it. Windows Embedded Standard is common in ATM cash machines, automotive electronics and medical devices. Look the new release will be Windows 8 series with the new logo and naming scheme, but Microsoft’s press release called it Windows Embedded Standard v.Next.
This enterprise version of embedded operating system in Windows Embedded Enterprise 8 release pushed three months after enterprise users, Embedded Standard standard version will have to wait until Windows 8 released six months after launch. This version will also have been used in industrial manufacturing areas–still exists on the official website of Microsoft Silverlight applications in industrial fields, believe SIMENS and Microsoft’s announcement on the Web site shown in Silverlight applications in quality control, should be based on Embeded the previous versions of the Standard.
Latest Embeded Compact is designed for small embedded devices (perhaps Handheld designed for the Tablet), has been formed to further development on the basis of Windows Phone, as the next successor of Windows CE, is expected to be released in the second half of 2012, and supported by Visual Stuidio 2010. WPDang can tell you here is that Windows Embeded Compact publication of the previous version, which is Embeded Compact 7, this ARM supports can only be to a system which uses ARMv6 processors of the schema. Believe Microsoft has seen the past two years, rapid development of mobile and embedded processor, dual-core and multi-core power next Embeded Compact version of what kind of revolution will bring industry and the medical field? We wait and see.
Windows Embedded Standard 8 can now be downloaded from the MSDN. The main improvement is that Metro style programs, promotion of touch interaction, Internet Explorer browser upgrades, and NFC support, in addition to enhanced Web security performance. As with Windows 8 running on a tablet, the new version supports the latest ARM processors, which will make it very suitable for small devices, but the current release Preview versions do not have this feature.
Also anticipated along with Embedded Handheld, Embedded POSReady and Embedded Automotive, but Microsoft has not released the entire series of embedded system development blueprint, we continue to look at Microsoft in the areas of intelligent systems.
