Although it is not the cheapest solution for your portable needs, I should say for 1149 is a bargain. Very fast Core 2 duo 2.4Ghz, Centrino 2, 4GB RAM.
I got it from Elecsurf, and I don’t know if this was exactly the same laptop advertised, but it came with four additional features not mentioned on the specifications:
1) Bluetooth is included
2) Fingerprint reader
3) It is not Windows Vista Home Premium, but Vista Business.
4) LightScribe enabled BD-ROM
I personally don’t care about the Media Center Edition. My desktop PC comes with it, and I don’t use it. So in my case it was a plus finding it was the Vista Business version that came along. So beware if you are expecting this software on your portable, you can ask the store you’re planning to buy this from, what version is pre-installed with this computer.
Have in mind that even if Windows Business is pre-installed, there is a software from HP supporting all your Media capabilities needs: HP QuickPlay.
Fully metallized, comes with a sober HP glossy Imprint design, not the one with curly lines all over, or the bronze delight which I liked a lot on the Dv3 series, but a slightly discreet squared grey print on it.
You won’t be disappointed with the Nvidia 512MB video card included. I have used it with google Earth and Second Life, everything just runs smooth with it.
It Comes with an HDMI output, so it comes handy upon playing portably your blu-rays and connecting them to your HDTV (cable is not included)
the upper bar with all media related buttons (mute, volume, play, pause, etc) are touch sensitive, no need to push buttons (except the power button). Usually the Wifi/bluetooth switch to enable/disable wireless capability is placed at the bottom, but in this laptop is placed on the same upper bar (not a sliding button, but a touch button). It took me seconds to find out where it was placed! LOL
